AERIS AND KYOCERA JOIN FORCES TO ENABLE INNOVATIVE LEICA AGRICULTURAL SOLUTION FOR NORTH AMERICAN FARMERS
Leica Selects Kyocera M200 Module and Aeris's Reliable CDMA Network and Managed Network Services
San Francisco – October 24, 2007
– Aeris® Communications, the leading wireless communications service provider dedicated exclusively to the Machine-to-Machine (M2M) and telematics marketplace across North America, Kyocera Wireless Corp., and Leica Geosystems today announced their collaboration on the Leica Geosystems mojoRTK product platform, an innovative field services solution designed to boost productivity and reduce equipment failure for the agricultural marketplace.
The new Leica Geosystems mojoRTK product platform is the first agricultural auto-steer guidance system to offer Virtual Wrench™, providing complete remote service capability in real-time via Aeris's CDMA network and the award-winning Kyocera M200 Module. Available exclusively to Leica authorized technicians to support mojoRTK customers, Virtual Wrench is the agricultural industry's first Web-based remote service and diagnostics tool that is always connected to the vehicle. Its constant connection allows the equipment operator to report a problem, start remote diagnostics immediately over the air, provide remote fixes to software and firmware and immediately schedule a field service call with the appropriate parts already ordered. Virtual Wrench's innovative features and design dramatically reduce equipment downtime, improve field service response times, increase customer satisfaction and boost productivity in the field.
"We value Aeris as a partner who brings together 15 years worth of experience, its enhanced CDMA network, and a set of automation tools that ensure rapid time to market for innovative M2M applications like VirtualWrench," said Dean Fledderjohn, general manager of the M2M division at Kyocera Wireless. "Working with Aeris, we were able to support all of Leica's requirements very quickly."
"The entire mojoRTK product line is packed with innovative new solutions to assist agricultural producers who are adopting precision farming practices. Virtual Wrench is no exception," says Trevor Mecham, North American Business Manager for Leica Geosystems. "We are excited to be working with companies who can help us bring revolutionary new technology to agricultural producers in North America."
"Working with best-in-class partners and customers like Kyocera and Leica further underscores Aeris's industry track record in supporting the delivery of M2M solutions," said Chris Purpura, senior vice president of marketing at Aeris. "By collaborating with Kyocera throughout the design phase, features were incorporated into the mojoRTK console that leverage our unique network and device management capabilities, enabling Leica's innovative application."
