Washington, D.C. | June 9, 1999 The Wireless Data Forum (WDF), the leading international trade association for the wireless data and mobile communications industries, today announced the election of Richard Gossen, president of Aeris Communications, Inc., to its board of directors. Aeris Communications is the leading wireless connectivity provider for a broad array of short packet signaling and messaging services including, wireless meter reading, trailer tracking, alarm and security, vending machine and office equipment monitoring.

The Wireless Data Forum officially announced the results of its board elections to its membership last week. The WDF membership elected one-third of its 15-member board of directors in the 1999-2000 elections. The WDF Board is tasked with providing management and direction for the growth and promotion of the wireless data industry.
Dick Gossen has more than 30 years experience in the high tech industry, having held positions ranging from engineer to CEO, with an extensive background in new product and technology development in the fields of semiconductors, computers and telecommunications. He began his career at Texas Instruments, where he served for more than 15 years, last as director of IC chip product development. Among other successes at TI, Mr. Gossen led the design of the first hand-held calculator, and was project manager responsible for the design of the world's first microprocessor chip. He has also served as chairman and CEO of Silicon Design Labs, Inc., CEO of Mass Memory Technology and vice president of Cypress Semiconductor, where he was responsible for the development of Sun Microsystems' high performance SPARCT processor chip family. He joined Aeris in 1995 as president and CEO.
