WIRELESS IT, Santa Clara, Calif. | November 2, 1999 Aeris.net, the exclusive provider of MicroBurstT short-packet data messaging technology, and NeoTech, a leading provider of fleet management services, today announced an agreement to service the vehicle tracking and monitoring markets. NeoTech has incorporated MicroBurst technology into its new Mobile-Trak® XL vehicle monitoring unit, which is now available for sale.
The MicroBurst enabled Mobile-Trak® XL is capable of plugging directly into a vehicle's diagnostic port, allowing the transmission of critical information such as faulty or worn parts, engine hours, and odometer readings.
"We really did not see anyone that could come close to Aeris in providing a complete messaging solution," commented NeoTech president, Scott Morrison. "The coverage, price and ease of use that the MicroBurst service offers is unmatched."
The use of MicroBurst technology provides flexibility to those monitoring fleets. The data from the vehicle can be received in a variety of formats which the customer can select and/or change at any time, including an easy to read Web page, phone, email or pager message.
"NeoTech has made great strides with the Mobile-Trak® XL, creating a clever product which takes full advantage of the vast range of monitoring features MicroBurst service allows," noted Wade Vesey, vice president of sales and marketing for Aeris.net. "This is an excellent example of how MicroBurst technology can be utilized to create a more comprehensive solution within an industry and provide a competitive advantage."
MicroBurst technology is a proprietary utility that enables short data packets to be transmitted over control channels in cellular networks using standard IS-41B signaling mechanisms. These short data packets are transmitted by cellular devices and are routed to the Aeris central hub facility over existing SS#7 (Signaling System 7) networks. The Aeris.net hub identifies NeoTech as the service provider and routes the data for delivery via a back-end link, which includes Internet, dial-up and dedicated connectivity.
MicroBurst technology provides service throughout all of North American at the lowest possible cost structure. All data distribution is handled by Aeris' central clearinghouse facility. This distribution strategy makes MicroBurst technology fully mobile and enables all MicroBurst devices to seamlessly roam North America-wide.
