SUPPLYNET TO UTILIZE AERIS.NET'S MICROBURST™ TECHNOLOGY FOR TANK TELEMETRY SOLUTIONS

Aeris.net to Provide Affordable, Wireless Tank Inventory Service

San Jose, Calif. | April 11, 2000    —Aeris.net, a leading provider of short-packet data messaging technology, today announced an agreement with SupplyNet Communications to enable low-cost, wireless messaging for SupplyNet's TankLink™ product suite via Aeris's patented MicroBurst™ technology. The TankLink line offers communications solutions for inventory and logistics management of liquid and gas filled tanks.

MicroBurst™ technology is the core messaging utility embedded in SupplyNet's TankLink "plug and play" units. The units, which can be easily attached to fixed or mobile tanks, are equipped with level sensors that allow distributors to remotely monitor the storage conditions and content levels of tank, providing instant notification of tanks that need to be refilled or emptied. The units can also provide logistical information for mobile tanks to allow distributors to monitor and efficiently route their inventory throughout the United States.

MicroBurst service transports the data gathered by the units to TankLink's central hub. TankLink then routes the message to the end-user via the Internet. Because MicroBurst service operates over the control channels of the cellular network, it enables low-cost, instant connectivity with ubiquitous coverage and seamless transmissions across all networks.

"The tank monitoring market contains more that 10 million units nationwide which is a major market opportunity," said Wade Vesey, vice president of sales and marketing of Aeris.net. Industry forerunners such as SupplyNet, are recognizing the value that Aeris's low-cost, reliable, remote monitoring MicroBurst service provides."

"Aeris.net's MicroBurst service is the perfect complement to SupplyNet's tank telemetry solutions," said John Crump, president of SupplyNet. "The service works wherever our customers need service and because it offers an all-Web interface, it ultimately streamlines inefficiencies in the entire supply chain."

How MicroBurst Works

MicroBurst technology is a proprietary utility that enables short data packets to be transmitted over control channels in cellular networks using standard IS-41C signaling mechanisms. These short data packets are transmitted by cellular devices and are routed to the Aeris central hub facility over existing SS7 (Signaling System 7) networks. The Aeris hub identifies the service provider, the ultimate recipient for the data, and routes the data for delivery via one of several available back-end links, which include Internet, dial-up and dedicated connectivity.

MicroBurst technology provides ubiquity of service and the lowest possible cost structure. All data distribution is handled by Aeris' central clearinghouse facility. This distribution strategy makes MicroBurst technology fully mobile and enables all MicroBurst devices to roam throughout the North, South and Central America.
