AERIS'S WIRELESS TELEMETRY NETWORK CHOSEN TO SUPPORT REMOTE VEHICLE TRACKING AND THEFT NOTIFICATION

Omega Research & Development Inc. and TelEvoke, Inc. Leverage Aeris.net's Wireless Telemetry Network Services to Track, Manage and Recover Stolen Vehicles

SAN JOSE, Calif. | May 15, 2001    —Aeris.net, the leading provider of wireless web, machine-to-machine communications, today announced that its MicroBurst® wireless telemetry network service has been selected by Omega Research & Development, Inc. and TelEvoke, Inc. as the preferred wireless telemetry network to support their instant vehicle tracking and customized car control solutions.

Omega Research & Development Inc. and TelEvoke, Inc. combine to offer car owners with a first of its kind, GPS-based vehicle tracking and theft notification system that can immediately notify owners by phone, e-mail or text pager when car alarms are triggered. As well, with Omega, TelEvoke and Aeris, car owners can send real-time commands to control vehicle functions, such as starting/stopping the motor, unlocking doors and even tracking their vehicle on the Web.

"Unlike existing car alarms, wireless telemetry solutions give owners unobtrusive and unprecedented control of their vehicles," said Wade Vesey, vice president of marketing at Aeris.net. "Owners can rest assured knowing that Aeris's wireless network blankets all of North America, so that no matter where their cars are, owners can instantly track them and control their vital functions."

Omega provides customers with their breakthrough GPS2000 system, which is comprised of a GPS receiver and cellular radio modem. The module, safely installed away from where any would be thief could reach it, sends messages with GPS location data over Aeris's MicroBurst network to the TelEvoke Network Operations Center (NOC). At this point, the NOC sends pre-designated phone, e-mail or pager message to the owner, informing them of what alarm has been triggered, as well as the vehicle's location, speed and direction.

Vehicle data that is transmitted over the Aeris network include:

  • Stolen alerts
  • Excessive speeds
  • Attempted key entry
  • Low battery

As well, the Aeris wireless telemetry network helps customers manage their vehicle from anywhere to:

  • Unlock car doors when keys are locked inside
  • Honk horns and flash lights o help owners find their cars in crowded parking lots
  • Engine start commands to pre-heat or cool the interior
  • Engine stop commands

Lastly, owners can track their vehicles on the Web or via a telephone to help:

  • Instantly find stolen cars
  • Notify police of their vehicle's location
  • Locate friends and/or family who may be using the vehicle
  • Verify the car is safe and secure.

The Omega GPS2000 vehicle tracking and theft notification system is fully certified by Aeris.net and commercially available today.
