FRISCO, TX | May 24, 2001 —InterTrak Tracking Services, L.L.C., a leader in providing consumer affordable vehicle and asset tracking services in the United States, reports that a sales contract was recently signed to purchase an additional US$14.1 million in tracking hardware from Canadian firm CSI Wireless Inc (TSE:CSY - news) of Calgary, a leading provider of advanced wireless and GPS technologies for the high-growth automotive, commercial, and consumer markets.
The additional order from InterTrak continues to utilize the basic CSI Wireless asset management technology strategically coupled with InterTrak's specialized application firmware and hardware specifications offering satellite tracking at down to earth prices. This order is in addition to an earlier US$4.8 million contract for CSI Wireless' AssetVision(TM) announced in January of 2001. This brings InterTrak's total orders for CSI Wireless products to US$18.9 million, to date.
CSI Wireless' new Asset-Link(TM) product and InterTrak's specification establishes an affordable, highly integrated vehicle and asset management total solution. Using the latest Global Positioning System (GPS) technology, Aeris.net MicroBurst® cellular network communications technology and Televoke's automated service platform that "connects people with things'', InterTrak has created the premier low-cost mobile product for many telemetry and telematics applications. CSI Wireless will begin shipping Asset-Link in the second half of 2001. Asset-Link will operate initially on the Aeris.net Microburst® control channel cellular network that encompasses virtually all of North, Central and South America.
"The highly functional AssetVision we've been installing since the beginning of this year has proven to be an outstanding and dependable component for our leading tracking services," said Nick Greco, Director of Operations at InterTrak. "Asset-Link coupled with our application specifications will give us the functionality that we need, but at a lower cost, giving InterTrak a further competitive position. In fact, InterTrak is the only Telematics Service Provider offering emergency GPS based stolen vehicle recovery assistance without the customary monthly charge."
"AssetVision, which we have been shipping to InterTrak, is a very robust product," stated Stephen Verhoeff, President & CEO of CSI Wireless. "The lower cost Asset-Link product will service InterTrak's security customers who do not have the full featured, data recording, voice and wide coverage needs of existing AssetVision users. This allows CSI Wireless to effectively cover the needs of a much larger spectrum of the tracking market."
AssetVision for the Aeris.net MicroBurst® cellular network, introduced to the market by CSI Wireless in October of 2000, is a powerful hardware device capable of tracking and monitoring vehicles and assets virtually anywhere in the United States, Canada and Mexico, and throughout much of South America.
InterTrak has been using AssetVision from CSI Wireless to enable customers to track individual vehicles or entire fleets from a secure Web site from any Internet accessible point. Integrating AssetVision with InterTrak firmware and hardware requirements provides an economical and easy-to-use system for vehicle and asset tracking.
"This follow-up order from InterTrak demonstrates the strength of CSI Wireless technology as a valuable component for asset tracking services," added Verhoeff.
As InterTrak's key hardware supplier, CSI Wireless is partnering with InterTrak for development and engineering to ensure that products - such as Asset-Link - meet critical ongoing market requirements.
"AssetVision from CSI Wireless has helped us offer a reliable asset tracking system to our customers," said Greco. "CSI Wireless' new Asset-Link will bring the features that we need at a lower cost and size to set market trends and exceed consumer expectations. The partnership and supply agreement we have with CSI Wireless is important in supporting the high growth we have been experiencing, so that we can continue to successfully grow together into the future."
