LAVAL | May 28,2001 —Mr. Paul-André Savoie, president and chief executive officer of Datacom, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Yves Bellemare and Mr. Marc Godin to the Board of Directors of the corporation. With these appointments, the number of directors on the Board rises to seven.
"Datacom has just concluded a significant financing agreement of $6.5 million with the Solidarity Fund QFL and an institutional investor represented by I.U.G.O Ventures. Mr. Bellemare and Mr. Godin played an active role in reaching this agreement and I am convinced they will add power to our momentum as we embark upon a period of major growth. They will also complement our knowledge of different aspects of the financial world, in particular with regard to the wireless communications industry. We are delighted to be able to count on them and their top-quality expertise," said Mr. Savoie.
At present, Mr. Yves Bellemare is acting as senior consultant to the Solidarity Fund QFL for investments in technology and telecommunications. He has 13 years of experience in the telecommunications sector to his credit; he was an administrator at Bell Canada's Innovation Centre where he participated in the launch and marketing of several products and services; and he took part in the start-up of MetroNet Corp. (today, AT&T Canada), as marketing director for Eastern Canada. He sits on the Boards of several well-known companies in technology and telecommunications, and holds a Master's of Science in Administration from the Université de Sherbrooke.
As for Mr. Marc Godin, he is currently a partner in I.U.G.O Ventures, a new company specializing in investment in the telecommunications and information technology sectors. Previously, he was chief financial officer, European Operations, of Telesystem International Wireless, based in London, U.K. Before that, he was the treasurer of Teleglobe Inc., and was subsequently employed by a company within the BCE group. He obtained his Master's of Business Administration and his Doctor of Philosophy degree at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, and his Master's degree in Economics at St. John's College, Oxford.
In addition to Mr. Bellemare and Mr. Godin, Datacom's Board of Directors includes, in particular, Mr. Frank McKenna, former premier of New Brunswick and a lawyer at McInnes Cooper, and Mr. Gilles Lacoursière, president of the Quebec division of Rogers AT&T Wireless.
